Moderator Training Course

Moderator training course is designed for individuals who wish to become moderators within their fields of expertise, particularly within the fields of Education Training and Development Practices (EDTP) and Human Resource Development. A moderator’s role is to conduct internal or external moderation of outcomes-based assessments, free of all bias and discrimination.

The course will cover moderation methodologies, reviewing assessment materials, ensuring consistency in assessment outcomes, providing feedback to assessors, and maintaining moderation records.

The duration of the moderator training course is typically 2-days and is outcome based and assessed according to various unit standards and outcomes. Assessment criteria consists of a formative assessment, in-class assessments and summative assessment.

Role of an ETDP Moderator: An EDTP moderator is responsible for verifying and quality assuring the assessments conducted by assessors. They review the assessment process, materials, and outcomes to ensure that they meet the required standards and comply with the relevant qualifications or qualifications frameworks.

Competency Assessment: As a moderator, your role is to provide oversight and ensure the consistency and fairness of assessments. This involves sampling assessments, verifying the validity and reliability of assessment tools, reviewing evidence of learner performance, and ensuring that assessors adhere to the prescribed assessment criteria.

Requirements and Qualifications: The credit calculation assumes that learners have previous assessment experience when starting to learn towards this unit standard, and in particular, recognition for the unit standard. It is further assumed that the person has evaluative expertise within the field in which they are moderating assessments.
