Facilitator Training Course

Facilitator training course or Train the Train course focuses on equipping individuals with the skills and techniques necessary to effectively deliver training sessions, workshops, or other educational programs. The course aims to develop facilitation abilities, instructional techniques, and learner engagement strategies.

The course will provide recognition for those who facilitate or intend to facilitate learning using a variety of given methodologies. Formal recognition will enhance their employability and also provide a means to identify competent learning facilitators.

The duration of the facilitator training course is typically 2-days and is outcome based and assessed according to various unit standards and outcomes. Assessment criteria consists of a formative assessment, in-class assessments and summative assessment.

Role of an ETDP Facilitator: An ETDP facilitator is responsible for designing and delivering engaging and effective training sessions or workshops. They create a supportive learning environment, engage participants through various instructional methods, manage group dynamics, and ensure that the desired learning outcomes are achieved.

Competency Assessment: Facilitators have three key responsibilities: planning and preparation, facilitating learning, and evaluating both learning and facilitation. In the planning and preparation phase, facilitators analyse learners and their needs, determine the essential elements for achieving desired outcomes, and prepare suitable learning materials. They also select appropriate facilitation methods that align with learners' needs and agreed-upon learning outcomes. Facilitators ensure they are fully prepared to implement the facilitation process. Finally, they evaluate the effectiveness of the learning and facilitation by seeking feedback from learners and stakeholders, analysing the feedback against established criteria, and making recommendations for improvement in future interventions.

Requirements and Qualifications: The credit calculation is based on the assumption that learners are already competent in the learning area in which they will provide training.

Accreditation and Certification: This course provides you with the essential tools and techniques to be able to effectively deliver skills development training courses to employees and/or general participants. The course specifically looks at developing your own practical skills to better plan and deliver training sessions (regardless of the topic) with the aim of effecting quality learning experiences.
